Be it guitar, drum, piano, voice or violin lessons (as well as several other instruments), Leroux Music School is dedicated to teaching students what they want to learn, so they can experience the joy of playing music as soon as possible.

“When I started taking music lessons, it was very theory based, and it didn’t seem like it was possible to become a musician," says owner Bryan Buss, recalling his early musical studies. "As soon as my brother taught me a couple of punk songs I thought, ‘Wow! I can play it already!’ It inspired me to get better.”

That simple starting point eventually led him to polishing his musical theory and technique at the Musicians Institute in California, where he learned from the likes of Jamie Kime, Scott Henderson and Frank Gambale. He then formed the ambient, post-rock band Jung People here in Calgary, and began teaching at Leroux Music, eventually assuming its ownership in 2012.

He and his fellow music teachers, who are all performing musicians, want to pass on that eureka moment to their students as soon as possible, no matter what the instrument, age of the student, skill level or the style of music they’re into. The instructors teach music lessons in everything from pop, rock and metal to country, bluegrass, jazz and classical.
