This place used to be a gem in Kingston, it's been a few months since I last visited and I was really surprised at the poor food quality. The place used to be packed at lunchtime so we arrived early and it was empty.
They soup I ordered with chicken, pineapple & shrimp used to have lots of chicken and this order came with 3 thin slices of chicken, one larger sized shrimp and a tomato in broth with 3-4 piece of pineapple - all for $9.50.
My friend ordered a dish and also had 3 pieces of thinly sliced chicken and the coriander was still gritty.
We both said aloud this place has really changed and a gentleman at another table commented that he noticed the prices have all increased $2-3 and the quality has taken a hit. He then suggested another Cambodian restaurant closer to downtown that we'll try & I'll report back.
Wont be returning.
Have visited many times in the past year, including visits with friends who are from Montreal and can't get good Cambodian food there. The takeout is always ready on time and attentive to any exceptions or modifications we request.
Tip: ask for a slice of lime with the pad thai and squeeze it over the top - makes all of the wonderful flavours crank up another notch.
The servers are very friendly and everything is nicely plated or well packed for takeout.
The pork salad rolls are a favourite: light, fresh, flavourful and very low fat. The pad thai is a fave and we've recently started getting the vegetarian version with tofu, which is excellent.
Please give Siem Reap a try, you'll want to come back often.
Always a great place! We have ordered and picked up and we have gotten take out, both were very good and HOT! The dishes are always fresh, lots of meat and lots of crisp vegetables. Just a perfect amount of curry and sauces to go with the rice. Not soupy, very flavourful.
My favourites are the red curry chicken, the spring rolls (sauce is to DIE for!) the citrus chicken and the pad thai. Will continue to go here for sure!
Excellent Food, Friendly staff. This is the go to place in kingston for Thai food.
My wife and I have been to every restraunt for Thia in kingston and I have been at many in Toronto and the food here is one of the very best and I would say the best in kingston.
A must if you enjoy Thai - Cambodian Food
