This restaurant serves freshly cooked, home made Ethipoian dishes, both vegetarian and meat. East Africa is run by a friendly couple and the food is just delicious, the best Ethiopian in Montreal. I live just along the road from this place and eat here at least a couple of times a month. I think I've now had everything from their extensive menu and I love all of it, although no 13, the fish Ye Assa Wott is my absolute favourite. I've taken to phoning my order in in advance as it does take quite a while to cook, as everything's made to order, although it is nice to just sit and chat with friends whilst we wait. And it's a tiny place, so good to book in advance.

Don’t be put off by the unassuming location and décor – East Africa is a home to some of the best Ethiopian food in town. It’s BYOB here and everything is homemade (and made to order), so patience is essential but well worth it. Try the Kitfo (like a steak tartare), the chicken and lamb stews, or the lentil and chickpea dishes.
