Best of the Best, Taj hits the spot!! We have take out each time and the delivery is exceptionally fast. Food is packed perfectly and very clean. One bad weather night, we got a craving for Taj food. On this night they were not delivering. I spoke with Karan who always takes care of me! and explained our problem. KARAN ACTUALLY BORROWED A CAR TO DELIVER OUR FOOD!!!! The Writer's Festival provided the opportunity to visit this restaurant twice in one week. What strikes one immediately, besides the very loud fountain by the door, are the warm and welcoming smiles of the staff. I was famished when we arrived at 5:00 PM. When our food came, very quickly after we ordered, I though that the servings seemed awfully small. Our meal arrived piping hot, the Jasmine Rice was wonderful, fresh and light and the Pad Thai and shrimp dish were very beautifully presented and very colourful. I am very much a foodie and I want a restaurant to give me an experience I am unable to create in my own kitchen. What Talay Thai provides is food that is a riot of flavours – seemingly five to nine distinct flavours flowing over your taste buds simultaneously. It works and I am now curious as to how I can recreate these multiple flavour sensations in my own kitchen. Our second meal was exactly the same as the first. Warm greeting, quick but unrushed service (great for pre-theatre or event dining), deceptively small looking servings, but incredibly tasty, attractive and filling food. We choose another shrimp dish, this one made with coconut milk and a tofu and vegetable dish. Everything was perfectly cooked and what is most striking about the food is the sense that every ingredient is incredibly fresh. Both meals were delivered to our table at their peak of perfection. As we arrived early there was plenty of free parking adjacent to the restaurant. This is the perfect place to shift from work to relaxation mode. With their quick service Talay Thai is also an ideal place to eat if the next part of your evening includes getting to your entertainment venue, well fed all while feeling unrushed. Read more

I came here for lunch a few months ago and was very impressed. We arrived just as the place opened up; the upstairs dining area had not been opened yet. Regardless, I asked if we could have a table on the upper level and the wait staff accommodated our request and opened up the upstairs area and we were given the option to have our choice of any table we wanted. We chose a table on the North side of the restaurant with a great view of the By-ward Market. My burger tasted a little dry but as I had never tried buffalo or bison before I didn't know if that was normal or not. Aside from that the atmosphere was so nice I probably would have even enjoyed a bad meal in that restaurant, sitting where I was. Read more

The Cheshire Cat Pub is a unique British style pub just outside of Kanata. When you walk in past the red telepone booth, it feels really authentic with the unusual "kitch" that you would find in pubs in England. We were just there, and found that they had taken off most of there regular drafts to replace them with Ontario craft beers. My husband was sad to not have a pint of Erdinger, but we learned that they were doing this to honour Ontario Craft Brew Week and found ourselves trying The Flying Monkey and a pint of Neustad 10w30 (beers I had never heard of!) Good for them we thought! We also learned that most of the menu incorporates local produce, meat and dairy. Anyway, the food was amazing! Pub fare, but with serious style. I had the Chicken Curry, my husband had the hamburger special and our friends both had the fish and chips. The service was friendly and laid back and the owner came up to introduce himself and made us feel like we had been coming for years. It was hopping busy!
