Obviously, Chinese food in Ottawa pales in comparison to what Hong Kong offers but Cafe Orient's food is the best I can find that reminds me of home. I've been eating here off and on for about twenty years and the food is consistently excellent. My one complaint (perhaps more of an observance, really) relates to how noisy it can get with a full house. Once upon a time, they used to have a carpeted dining room but changed it to tile about ten years ago. Needless to say, sounds are no longer muffled. Read more

The service was excellent . My Husband and I both had the 7oz steak . Was done very well . Tried their Spice Rum and very smooth drink . We had a booth and there was a candle on the table made it romantic. Love the soft music playing . Lovely evening to remember . We were visiting Ottawa for Thanksgiving weekend and for my birthday . This place is a nice place to have a quick meal and be satisfied with it. I've been to this place many times and I must say that it hasn't disappointed me yet. The portions are huge which would definitely make you full once you walk out that door. It's also an inexpensive place to hang out and eat with friends on a late night or cold day. The broth is really good, but it's usually a hit or miss. Sometimes it would have too much MSG but sometimes it would be a nice way to finish your noodles. Read more

I am a celiac and I just discovered this restaurant! When you walk in they ask if you need a gluten free menu which is something I’ve never been asked before. They have an amazing variety of options for gluten free. The service was insanely good and there was nothing but an evening filled with laughs and a great environment.
