We arrived in Kingston for a hockey tournament and searched for a restaurant that was able to accommodate a group of 40, half of which were kids. The owner together with his staff welcomed our team and did an amazing job. The kids had a great time, the service was the best we've seen from any east side Mario's, and they did a great job on the food. Hats off to the staff and the owner for going above and beyond! We'll be back for sure.

My family started going here about a month ago for breakfast on Sunday mornings and absolutely love it!!! There is a wonderful homey feel that you get the minute you walk in the restaurant.
It is the only place in Kingston we have found so far for breakfast that does not let your coffee cup go empty (a definite plus in our group).
All of the servers are extremely nice, service is speedy, and the food is great. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a great homestyle place for breakfast.

Visited twice in the last 10 days and LOVED IT. Once was a Saturday afternoon 12:30ish and it was very crowded but lucked into a seat once the food was ready. More recently was a weekday 4:30ish, much quieter but still a few patrons. Either way, food is made to order - might take 5-10 mins. but worth the wait and fun to watch.
We have had a total of 2 little burgers and 3 regular (double patty) cheeseburgers so far and they are flavourful, well cooked but tender, so good you can (and want to) taste the meat itself. Buns are soft with a nice chew, sesame seeded. We kept it simple with lettuce, relish, pickles, ketchup but you can go crazy with wide selection of toppings.
Fries are in peanut oil, gorgeous brown and slightly crisp but fluffy inside. Huge portion even for regular, as others have said. Nice to see Coke products in the machines and Heinz ketchup for fries.
Great spirit among the staff, focused and attentive and seem to be happy to be there, which must be a compliment because the kitchen is wide open for customers to watch the whole scene.
The place was kept very clean. There is nothing frozen on site, which explains the fresh taste.
Very simple, straightforward menu. No need to consider combos and deals, it's burgers, add drink or fries if you want or not.
Keep up the great work and please consider a second location in west end Kingston!

We found the staff to be very friendly and were glad to give us directions to the different places in town. The service was fast and the waitress was very polite and freindly. The serving of food were large and hot. They have a large assortement of food on their menu and they made you feel welcome as soon as you entered the restaurant. We went to Atomica on a weekday for lunch and got a seat by the window. The decor is really unique and we could see how the place could easily fill up and become very loud since it is all one big room (plus a patio). Thankfully, it was very quiet during the hour we were there (11:30ish) since it was so early in the day.
The server was very professional, attentive without being pushy.
The funghi pizza was apparently very good but my dining companion said that a big-box store carries a frozen one that is even tastier. I created my own with spicy tomato sauce, pulled chicken, feta and roasted red peppers, which was very nice.
Overall, the quality is good and the price is a little high but it's a nice occasional dining out venue and they support local growers, which is appreciated.

I've been to Darbar twice. The first time I had the lunch special with a beef curry (don't recall exactly what kind), and thought that it was bland, uninteresting, and it had no heat at all, surprising because I ordered it "hot"
The second time I was invited to dinner with a visiting relative. I was reluctant to agree to this restaurant due to my previous experience, but we went nonetheless.
This time, I ordered the lamb dansak, and was completely blown away. It was definitely among the best dishes I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The flavour was bold and complex but balanced, and with enough heat to make the dish exciting to eat. I had a taste of the other dishes at the table, which ranged from good to so-so, but my order was truly excellent.
Both times, the service was prompt and polite, and the staff was very attentive without being intrusive.
If all of the dishes on the menu were comparable to my last visit, I would not hesitate to give Darbar five stars for food. Unfortunately, many items are underperformers.
Overall, if you didn't like Darbar, it's worth another shot - you probably just ordered the wrong item the first time.

Decent clean food, HUGE portions. Really nice qulity food but we were rushd to put our order in. Nevertheless, we enjoyed take out and will return for seconds and thirds. By comparitive standards, this place is excellent in this small city and the food is comparable to what you will find in a big city like Montreal or Kingston. Tasty but a wee bit expensive.
