Florista Flower Studio Ltd

Alice de Crom has always been around flowers. In fact, the talented florist and owner of Florista Flower Studio practically grew up in a greenhouse. Her parents owned a greenhouse business and so it seemed quite natural that she would eventually find herself in the floral industry. “I was in high school trying to figure out what to do for my future when at grad I wore a wrist corsage and I thought I could make these and make a better one,” recalls Alice. Following graduation she started taking floral design classes and fell in love with the craft. “Flowers are so naturally beautiful,” she says, “they are such a positive thing to bring to peoples' lives.”

Alice began working in a local flower shop but soon found she wasn't able to be as creative as she wanted. “I felt like I was being held in a box,” she recalls. The budding florist decided she wanted to branch out and do her own thing. When a friend told her about a new development in Fort Langley, Alice went to check it out and saw an opportunity. At 19, the young entrepreneur went to her mom for help. “I needed her support and she believed in me,” Alice explains. “She knew I could do it.”

With the help of her family, Alice opened Florista Flower Studio in December of 2012. “It’s been hard being so young. I can’t travel like some of my friends,” says Alice. “I’ve worked so hard to build it up but there’s not been an ounce of regret. I feel I’m destined to be an entrepreneur and work for myself.”
