food is not fresh except few things like naan and I found plates and spoons are dirty. I could not afford any risk to eat any chicken recipe just by looking at it...
Poor food, poor service
We walked in on a Saturday evening-there were NO customers. This should have been an indication that this was not a popular place to eat, but it was very clean and the buffet looked appetizing enough. That where it all came to an end. Food was SO HOT that you couldn't even taste anything. My wife wanted to eat some Aloo Gobi-way too hot .i spoke to the owner and she said that they would make a fresh batch-they did buy the gobi was raw. We just paid for 2 buffets and left never to go back
My wife and I have been going here since they opened about 11 years ago. The flavours are fantastic and our only complaint is that they need to tone down the spiciness (heat) of the food. We keep trying other Indian restaurants in Brampton but always come back to Minar as our favourite. Great food at a great price with an adequate atmosphere. Great Masala Chai & Nan Bread too. as to the washrooms.... they could use a bit of maintenance but are always CLEAN and certainly in better shape than most Indian restaurants we have tried.
I've been there few times. The food was little spicy but tasty. Everything was good, the food and the service. The only place that I did not like was the washroom. There are two rooms in the ladies washroom. One has been out of order for few YEARS!!! and one's seat is broken. I don't know how the HEALTH OF PEEL gave them a Green Check.
Food was bland, plain and really failed to impress. Service was fine, but nothing special. The decor seemed strung together with items purchased at department stores. Clean bathroom.
Great food, great service, and cheap!!! Service was fast - got piping hot naan in 5 minutes. And the place was empty on a Sunday (strange for a place with this great food)
I am from the USA and am in Canada on business for a couple of weeks (arrived 2 days ago). I LOVE Indian food and always look for a good place to find it when I visit different areas of the globe. I rely heavily on searches on the Internet to find reviews of local restaurants so that I can quickly find good places to eat. I did exactly that when I arrived here. I found the reviews that were written for this place and it seemed as though it would be a good place to try out. I was a little nervous about it based on the review of the person who stated that the food was “too spicy” but then I said to myself… “self… Indian food is SUPPOSED to be spicy”. It is a different spice of course… a fantastic spice, one that is spicy when chewing, but doesn’t linger heat. So… with my self reassurance, I headed for the restaurant. I am a HUGE “Butter Chicken” fan personally (though I remember it being called something different) so that was the first thing I went for… I must say… without ANY hesitation that this was by far, the BEST that I have ever had… ANYWHERE. The Spice was PERFECT, Spicy, delicious, mouth watering, and filling! YUUUUUUUMMMMMY I then tried several of the other dishes and was equally impressed. The atmosphere was clean, bright, and welcoming. The staff was very friendly and helped with all questions. My only complaint is with one of the waiters. My waiter wasn’t very prompt at all about refilling my water glass and when he did, it was with almost room temperature water, no ice. I am used to my water being refilled often in other Indian restaurants and it being ice cold, sometimes even with cucumber slices for a fresh taste (if you’ve never tried this, you owe it to yourself to try). Even though I wasn’t impressed with my waiter, I would still VERY highly recommend this place to anyone and would be happy to put my name behind it. My guess on my waiter was that he just wasn’t that into working last night. No question, if you are in town and are looking for an incredible Indian cuisine restaurant to visit I wouldn’t hesitate one bit in heading here. I will personally be going back at least 5 or 6 more times over the next 2 weeks! Thank you to all of you who had written reviews before me, your reviews led me to try this place out and boy was it worth it! - The Traveling Harley Riding Computer Geek!
amazing food, service, and inexpensive. restaurant was surpurisingly empty which is always a plus point with large gatherings. definite referral!
Been there a few times since it opened. But the last time we went, we asked for a high chair for our toddler. The white plastic chair, unfortunately was FILTHY... and we weren't provided any alternative...accompanied with a don't-care-attitude. So we left without eating and have never been there since.
So nice and clean Five Stars meal for $10 - woooooooooooo
This place had a real clean establishment and at the time I went; there was not too many guests, however the one attendant on staff at the front asked kindly about beverages and re filled the complimentry water glasses without asking and at the perfect times, and was most helpful when some of the alcoholic drinks of my choice were not avalible, we tried to substatue. I know alot of these ethnic restaurants may be intimadating due to a lack of English, however the young lady at the front "desk" spoke great English and was most helpful, I always left a tip for her sweet, hard working self. The tables were cleared as soon as the party leaves and it is wiped down and re set right away. The food was great, fresh, not too spicy, but had pepper and sauces avalible on the side for the more daring. The buffet area was wiped down often and was easily accessable. The food was refilled often and light indian music was played to create an authentic atmosphere that was not overbearing. It was very plesant experiences that I personally had there, and over my visits I had noticed more and more multi cultured people coming in to try it. Don't be intimadated, the food all had translations as to the main ingredients either right above the items on the buffet cart, or labeled on the menu. If you still have questions ask the workers, they were happy to tell me when some new item was added to the buffet that had no label, there was also a good mix of vegitarian and meat filled combos that you could mix and match at the buffet area. So that fussy vegan friend or that meat lover, pepper lover and adventurous type, this is a perfect place to try and eat with all your friends at a great fair price.
Minar is owned and operated by a husband and wife team by the name of Ruby and Manjit. They are very friendly and gracious hosts. Until recently, my husband and I were long time patrons. The service is excellent and the food is wonderful. Unfortunately for some reason, over the past year or so the spiciness of the food has increased a lot. I personally can't eat food that is too spicy. Even my husband who loves spicy food agrees with me that it has just gotten too spicy lately. Ruby and Manjit have offered to make less spicy dishes just for me, but I feel that kind of defeats the whole purpose of them having the buffet in the first place...plus I feel very guilty having them make separate dishes just for me and still paying the less expensive buffet price, so I no longer do so. Unfortunately as a result, we have been had to find a new favorite indian restaurant. Double unfortunately, it is that our new fav is 4 times farther away from us than Minar. ;) If you like your indian food more on the spicy side, you will no doubt enjoy Minar. We'll even go back once in a while just so hubby can have a little indian spice. :)
