Horrible service. No manager on site. Waitress completely unprofessional, took pictures of my friends baby on personal device without asking permission. Didn’t refill our waters, waited 2 hours for salads. Do not go here
food was great. service was great also. Been there 3 times and never disappointed. Had dessert for the first time. It was delicious
Entrees were fresh, flavorful, generous in portion. Salads were standard fare- good, but not exceptional. I found my entree to taste a bit overly salty, but my companion didn't feel similarly about her meal. Service was very attentive once we were seated. There was only one server (restaurant was not busy) and we did wait several minutes to be seated, but once at our table, we were well looked after. The atmosphere is pleasant enough, but sound has a way of traveling here that makes it difficult to have an intimate conversation. There were only two other tables occupied, yet the noise was reminiscent of a cafeteria. The food was good though, and that's what counts. Prices are consistent with a moderately upscale restaurant.
I had a great meal at La Piazza Allegra tonight. Our server Karen was fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming. We ordered from the Localicious menu and it was excellent. Our food was hot and fresh. We loved the fresh bread that they served. I've seen come complaints that there was olive oil instead of butter for the bread, but we really liked the olive oil. I've seen some other reviews that said the food was overly salty but that was not the case for us. It was just right. My boyfriend kept commenting on how flavourful and delicious the soup was. The Localicious menu has a set price of $35/person and it was a great deal. We both were stuffed and couldn't eat another bite. Had to bring some of our meal home actually. We'll definitely be back again. Everything on the menu sounds wonderful and so authentic Italian.
Only go for lunches as dinner is very expensive. Service can be slow so be weary of your time. But I love the lunch pastas, reasonable priced and good portions. I have eaten the panini, various pastas and specials. Me and our group are usually never disappointed. Atmosphere is good as well for a nice sir down quiet lunch.
Came here for lunch with two colleagues. The complimentary 'fresh bread' sticks would have benefited from additional time in the oven; billed as "quite spicy", the real effect was of nibbling on a slightly raw salt stick. Quite unpleasant. A thin Caesar salad was refreshingly citrusy; calamari & shrimp arrived drowned in a lemony pesto soup and so overcooked they were ready to be bounced off the walls. An incomprehensible take on Amatriciana sauce was dominated by cream and little suggestion of spice or seasoning; the seafood cappaletti generally satisfied, but once again missed the spot on doneness. A slightly more generous hand on the plating would have helped. The standout was a very competently prepared gluten-free rendition of the classic four-cheese pasta. Just enough bite without the torturous chewy texture some cooks impart. Overall, poor with no chance of a return visit or recommendation.
Tasty caesar salad was followed by a sweet and spicy sauteed calamari and shrimp - done just right. It's hard to find decent seafood in Hamilton. Excellent lamb, but the highlight was papparadelle with scallops and spinach. Nice atmosphere inside (outside is nothing special) as it's located in a strip plaza. Service was very friendly but not overbearing and the wine list is respectable. Overall an excellent experience and will be returning.
$16 for spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs were overcooked/dry. And when I ordered it she had to look in the back to make sure they "had an order of it" because she thought she "sold them all at lunch" What Italian place doesn't have meatballs ready for dinner? Tasted leftover from lunch too. I didn't bother commenting because we had a 2 for 1 coupon so wasn't going to make a big deal of it but ewww. Olive Garden is better than this place and salad is included! Like the other reviewer, I didn't care for the bread and thought it was ridiculous that more wasn't included for the price. Our waitress was "fake perky" it got on our last nerve. Then a big group comes in and sits behind us and they were so loud we both got a headache from listening to them. They were friends of the owner so of course he came out and fussed over them, adding to the noise. IMO, less talking, more/better cooking was in order here. Waitress was also training someone else so we had to listen to her step by step instruction manual all night. If my guess is right, the trainee won't last, she didn't look too impressed with the whole thing either. No salt on the table, to me, that's restaurant 101. They were tripping over themselves trying to act better than they were, won't go back, total waste of money. LOL at the comment underneath this review. Okay, so the staff doesn't know how to season their food. Personally, I think a diner should always have control over their own seasoning, but seeing as they decided to do a poor job of it for me, they still get docked for it! :-)
After hearing so much about this restaurant we decided to try it with friends. Considering the source of our information we should have known better. These friend were eaters not knowledgeable foodies. First we had reservations for 4 arrived on time and we had to wait 30 minutes for our table. We were shared the all of the evenings frustrations from the manager that was staff that did not show etc... did we really need to hear this when were out to dine and relax? NO. They should have called in back-up staff. The food by far was a disappointment we should have known when we were served the tomato bocconcini salad they used the mini 1-1/2" bococoncini with a cheap tasteless olive oil (probably canola oil) and maybe balsamic dressing. Word to the owner cook: in Italy they use buffalo cheese, real extra virgin olive oil with a blasamic reduction with fresh basil. I ordered the lamb, I ordered it pink as it should be, it was over-cooked and by looking at the fat you could tell it was reheated in the microwave. My friends both order pasta dishes and ordered it "Al Dente" the pasta was over-cooked, the texture was of wallpaper paste. The waitress was rushed and we felt rushed to leave on a Saturday night and it was before 9:00pm. This "chef" claims he studied cooking in Italy...for someone well travelled in Italy I would like to to know was that schooling only via the internet? This restaurant is just another knock-off claiming to be Italian and good enough for the average masses that have no clue what real Italian food is all about.
Ordered appetizers that arrived at different times(over ten min. apart) but that was only the beginning My steak arrived looking quite nice, however when I tasted it it was clearly rancid. After about ten minutes the server came back and I explained the problem. He took it back to the kitchen. I told my guest to continue with their dinner..... twenty min later the steak arrived back (same steak) with a piece cut out of it. The waiter explained the cook had tasted it and said it was fine and I should eat it. I told the server to just take it back and remove my entre from the bill and we would leave.(my guest had now finished). HERE IS THE KIKER the server told me that I would have to pay for the meal or he would call the police. I told him to call as hell would freeze over before I would pay for a rancid steak that I had not eaten. In the end we left paying for only one entre but will not ever go back. BTW I sent an email to the owner to advise them of this..... have had no response, so I guess they do not care DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
This has turned into a Family place with a high price Menu. The food is still good but very hard to enjoy with all the kids running around ( this was Saturday Night) and the noise . When we expressed our concerns at the end of the evening ( our bill was $125) we were told to bad and we could leave as far as they were concerned. So We Will Never Go Back or Tell Anyone Else Too.
