We have come every year in December from Hamilton to Simcoe to see the Christmas lights. We stop at the Barrel Restaurant first, and it is a highlight of our trip: excellent food, excellent atmosphere. There is a very large menu, so I know people can order what they want and sometimes get something different from what they want. Suffice to say that I find the Penne Capri on par with meals served in Italy, and my husband and in-laws refuse to order anything other than the lasagna because they enjoy it so much every time. This is one of my favourite restaurants. I first was taken here by my father after he had been so impressed eating here at a business lunch. We haven't had a bad meal here ever. My favourite meal is always the eggplant parmesan. It has to be prepared ahead of time, so make to to mention when you make your reservation, if you want it. Food quality is always amazing. The owner is attentive, enthusiastic, and passionate about the food and service. The owner may be Greek, but coming from an Italian girl who grow up on my Italian Nana's fresh made food, he knows his Italian food. Read more

I have to say that the service and food at this Boston Pizza was some of the best that I have ever had. I really enjoyed how juicy the chicken was and the type of tomato sauce that was on the sandwich was really amazing! The Ceaser Salad was great too, not too much salad dressing, which is something that I can't stand. I would definately recommend to other people to come to the Boston Pizza located on Wayne Gretzky Parkway. The service was fantastic and the wairess was on the ball and got our refills in no time at all, and she also didn't come over to often to see how our meal was or ask us when we had food in our mouths. My daughter and I went for lunch. Our family and friends have been going since they first opened. Food and service is always great!! We enjoy trying something new they have on tap and have yet to be disappointed. Today they were full due to a local hockey tournament. Our lunch was missing a few items and took a little longer than usual, but we received fresh meals quickly. What impressed us the most was how the staff and manager handled the situation. AMAZING! Never been to this restaurant and had my first visit ever this past Saturday. Upon walking in, I first noticed the dim lighting which set a very memorable ambiance. Delicate and soothing music played over the room and we were seated quickly. Our waitress came over promptly and asked for our beverage order and did so in a bubbly and polite manner. Me and my partner both ordered Ceasar's and they were delivered very fast. Not only fast but quite possibly the best Ceasar I've had. Shortly after the drinks, she brought bread and sauce over to our table which was nothing short of a taste of heaven. It gives East Side Mario's starter bread a run for it's money. When we were ready to place our order, we both ordered the 10oz Rib Eye glazed with Cabarnet Sauvignon. At first, my partner couldn't decide between the Lasagna or the steak. Our waitress said that their pasta is memorable but their steak is of very high caliber. So he took her advice and ended up ordering the steak. I followed suit. As our sides, we decided to have penne pasta (the best of both worlds) and the steamed vegetables. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. Even at the Keg, I've never had steak so succulent and flavourful. This was incredible. Not only was the steak to die for, but they piled on - and I mean PILED on - a load of mushrooms on top and they are by far the best mushrooms I've ever eaten. The vegetables were delicious! Not too long into our meal, our waitress came over to ask how our meal was and I found it hard to tell her as I didn't want to take a breath to speak. Lol. It was then that we ordered a litre of Zinfandel to go with our meal and it, too, was impeccable. This is a beautiful little spot that is hands down the best place I've eaten in Brantford. Read more

This place is one of my favourite places in all of Hamilton to go - I usually only go on special occasions as I revere the food and pastas that much and would never want to spoil the pleasure in which I have each outing I go. I boldly say that of my seven years in Hamilton that this is the best italian restaurant in the city. My favourite dish is the Chicken Parmigiana - the meal always feels like it was cooked right then and there and the quality is unreal, it just is perfectly cooked just a notch past al dente pasta with a delicious red sauce and a great serving of chicken cutlets. The servers are always top notch and so respectful and always take good care of things. To work there I would definately have some pride in my work, just outstanding place in all. Read more
